What to expect

Booking a DJ shouldn’t be a mystery. Here’s exactly how it works with us — from your first message through the last dance and the days after. Planning a wedding? There’s a section just for you further down.

Booking your date

It starts with a message. Use the scheduling form to tell us your date, location, and what kind of event you’re planning — or just email or call us. There’s no obligation.

We confirm availability for your date and send a clear, itemized quote — no hidden fees. Our rates are published openly, and every new client saves 10%.

That quote is your contract. When you’re happy with it, sign it and send it back — by mail, or scanned and emailed — along with a 50% deposit. That’s it: your date is booked. (An online way to sign and pay the deposit may come later; for now we handle it directly with you.)

Dates are first-come, first-served, so booking early helps — some dates fill a year or more ahead. The remaining balance is due by the start of your event (more on that below).

Planning the music & timeline

Once your date is reserved, we build the event around what you want. Share your must-play and do-not-play lists in whatever format is easiest — a Spotify playlist, a Word, Excel, or PDF document, or just an email. Clean, family-friendly music is our default; explicit versions only if you specifically ask.

Request a song we don’t already have? If it’s readily available (say, on Amazon or iTunes), we’ll add it to the library at no extra charge.

If you have a timeline — introductions, toasts, special dances, announcements — send it over and we’ll review it, ask questions, and suggest anything worth tweaking. We don’t build a timeline from scratch unless you’d like us to; just ask and we’re glad to help.

Any worksheets or planning pages we offer are there to help, never required — use them or skip them. (We may add an online planning tool down the road.) We just ask for your music and any timeline about two weeks before the event, which leaves plenty of room to make or revise plans. It’s meant to be low-pressure.

Event day

We arrive early to set up and sound-check before guests show up, so everything’s ready when the event starts. You won’t be wrangling cables or wondering whether the music will work. The remaining balance is due by the start of the event — a check at the event is perfectly normal, and paying online works too.

During the event we handle the sound and, when you want it, the MC duties — introductions, announcements, and keeping things on track. We work alongside your day-of coordinator, photographer, and other vendors and guests so the whole thing runs smoothly. When we get the room’s attention, it’s always to point it back to the moment that matters — never to make the DJ the show.

We’re not an in-your-face or obnoxious DJ. Ultimately it’s your event, not ours — we read the room, keep the floor full, honor the lists you gave us, and let you be present for it.

Sound is sized to your venue, indoors or out, and dance-floor lighting is available. See the individual event-type pages for what’s included by event.

After the event

With the balance already paid by the start of the event, there’s nothing to settle up afterward — we just hope you had a great time.

If you did, the best thing you can do is share it. Reviews and referrals mean the world to a family business like ours: leave a review, tell a friend, tag us in your photos, or send us a few shots from the day. Our Find Us Online page has every place to do that, and we love adding client and photographer photos (with permission) to the gallery.

If you’re planning a wedding

Weddings have more moving parts than most events, so the planning runs a little deeper. The four stages above still apply — here’s what’s different.

  • Ceremony and reception are planned together — including a second sound system if they’re in separate spaces (a small add-on; see our rates).
  • Have a reception timeline (grand entrance, first dance, parent dances, toasts, cake, bouquet, send-off)? Send it and we’ll review it and follow it closely. Don’t have one yet? We’re glad to help you build it — just ask.
  • As your MC, we make the announcements and keep the evening moving so you and your families can be present for it.
  • Your must-play and do-not-play lists are honored to the letter — it’s your day.
  • We’re glad to coordinate with your planner, photographer, and venue ahead of time so everyone’s working from the same timeline.

See our wedding DJ & MC services for everything that’s included.
